Sporting Clube de Braga set themselves up for the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg against Real Betis in the best possible way: with a victory.

Carlos Vicens’ squad defeated Moreirense (0-1) to secure their place in the top tier of the standings, sitting fourth with 49 points.

With top scorer Rodrigo Zalazar sidelined due to injury, the winning goal came from another Spanish player: Fran Navarro.

“The Bull,” who started alongside Pau Víctor, Víctor Gómez, and Gabri Martínez, opened the scoring in the 24th minute off a set-piece. The former Valencia, Gil Vicente, Porto, and Olympiacos forward charged in to finish a headed pass from Gustaf Lagerbielke.

Navarro, substituted by Diego Rodrigues in the 76th minute, continues to make the most of his 1,968 minutes on the pitch. He now has 11 goals this season: five in the league, four in the Europa League, one in the cup, and one in the League Cup.

Real Betis awaits.
