Florentino Pérez has downplayed speculation about José Mourinho’s potential return to Real Madrid, stating that the club is not currently at a stage where such discussions are relevant. The Real Madrid president also asserted his status as the best leader in the club’s history.
Speaking on the matter, Pérez acknowledged Mourinho’s past contributions but made clear that no talks about a comeback are on the horizon. 
“We haven’t reached that point yet,” he said, brushing aside recent rumors linking the Portuguese coach with a third stint at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The remarks come amid ongoing speculation about Real Madrid’s coaching future, with current manager Carlo Ancelotti’s position under scrutiny despite a strong season. Mourinho, currently at AS Roma, has previously led Real Madrid to a La Liga title in 2012 and is widely regarded as one of the club’s most successful managers.
Pérez also defended his own legacy, calling himself the best president Real Madrid has ever had. He pointed to the club’s sustained success under his leadership, including multiple Champions League titles and global brand growth.
While Pérez did not completely rule out Mourinho’s return in the future, he emphasized that the club is focused on the present and not entertaining hypothetical scenarios. The statement is likely to cool down fan speculation for now, though Mourinho’s name remains a constant topic in Madridista circles.
