Despite recent calls from Manchester United fans for his contract to be extended, Casemiro (34) believes the club is unlikely to change its stance. The combative defensive midfielder’s current deal expires at the end of the European season, and United announced in January that they would not trigger an extension, meaning he will depart as a free agent.

Casemiro talks with Carrick on the pitch
The Brazil international has become a mainstay in Michael Carrick’s starting lineup, with United currently sitting third in the Premier League – a position that qualifies them for next season’s Champions League. His consistent performances and commitment have led some supporters to chant for at least a one-year renewal.
“I’m going to make a decision at the end of the season, but I see it as difficult. I think there is no option (to renew), mainly because I want to leave through the big door,” Casemiro said in an interview published Tuesday by ESPN Brasil. “If there’s something I’ll remember with special affection from these four years here, it’s the fans who have supported me. But no, I think it’s over. The cycle ends here.”
Casemiro appears to have a secure spot in Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup. The Italian, who coached him at Real Madrid, will announce the call-up list on May 18. The midfielder gave no hints about where he will continue his career but stressed that his family’s wishes will be crucial in deciding his next move.

According to media reports, Inter Miami is interested in signing him. “I need to think it through with them (my family), because now it’s very important to make a decision. I still have to analyze the situation. Thank God things are going very well, and it’s been a very good end of the season for me, a very good season,” he added.
